Programs
Each program has different eligibility requirements. Call Pat at (818) 885-8138 to see which programs are most suitable for you or your prospective equestrian.
Competition Opportunities - Ride with Pride clients are invited to participate in two local horse show events: CALNET at Griffith Park Equestrian Center, Burbank, and the Kiwanis Show for Riders with Disabilities at Hanson Dam. Participants enjoy the opportunity to compete and demonstrate their accomplishments for family and friends.
Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) - Ride with Pride clients have available to them equine facilitated psychotherapy which is conducted by two staff members, both of whom are Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) trained. Equine-facilitated therapy is available for both veterans and other clients within our community with specific and prescribed therapy goals. This work is conducted alongside horses in the arena where interactions or behaviours occur that can mirror various conditions or stresses experienced by our clients in the past. A therapist and horse handler work together with the client(s) and the horses. Both individuals and groups can participate in this program.
Hippotherapy - Hippotherapy is conducted with a physician's prescription under the direction of a Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapist, a certified therapeutic riding instructor and an appropriate number of volunteers performing the functions of leader and side-walkers. The horse's movement is used by the therapist to facilitate activity and normalize tone specific to the client's goals.
Mounted Lessons - Horseback riding allows clients the opportunity to sit atop a horse and actively participate in riding. A rider learns to demonstrate self-control and earns a sense of accomplishment, self-confidence and self-esteem. Each riding lesson is designed to challenge, yet support success, for each client as they work to accomplish individually developed physical, psycho-social, cognitive and educational goals. Regardless of disability or degree of function, horses motivate each client to continually strive for improvements.
Summer Camp - This summer camp experience is a fun-filled, enriching, horse-oriented experience focused on improving horsemanship skills. Campers enjoy outdoor nature and art activities, horse care, horseback riding and special theme days.
